WPT Auction is our biggest volunteer event of the year. With the help of more than 800 enthusiastic volunteers, WPT will auction off more than 4,000 items on live television. Whether you enjoy the excitement and energy of being on camera or prefer to help out behind the scenes, we have the perfect job waiting for you!

What type of Auction Jobs are Available?
Did you know that it takes more than 800 volunteers to produce a successful auction? Join us for some bidding, friends, and fun!
Bid Qualifying Team: Contact viewers that placed bids on the Auction website. Verify bid information, explain bidding process and let callers know the day and time their item will be auctioned on-air.
Bid Sorter: Sort bids by item and amount with earliest high bid on top. Place paperwork into a confirmation packet and give to a bid runner.
Confirmation Call Team: Call winning bidder of auction items, verify bidder information, inform winner of options for picking up and paying for item and complete information on bid slip.
Data Entry : Enter data from bid packets into Auction software program.
Phone Bank: Talk on the phone/headset with viewers interested in making a contribution to the station. Enter pledge information into a computer software program.
Pick-Up and Pay Cashier: Greet customers, confirm winning items, and process their transaction. Thank bidders for their support of Auction.
The jobs listed below involve standing or walking.
Bid Filer: Assemble incoming bid packets, sort numerically and file chronologically into appropriate storage unit.
Bid Runner: Collect bids from the phone bank and distribute to the bid sorters behind the set. Take completed bid packets to the confirmation area. Hand out soda and water to volunteers.
Bid Runner Captain: Train and supervise bid runner team. Work with volunteers to ensure bids are quickly and efficiently transferred to the item boards and confirmation area.
Board Captain: Track bids on the Auction board using information relayed from the phone bank and the bid sorters. Update bids quickly and efficiently, star overbids, and assist with setting up new boards.
Cafe Server: Prepare and serve refreshments, snacks and a meal to volunteers and staff. Maintain a clean work space.
Display Designer: Set up and arrange Auction merchandise for attractive on-camera display. Create identification cards to clearly distinguish each item for potential bidders.
Floater Auction: Volunteers will be given a job assignment to fill openings due to cancellations, unfilled positions and other staffing needs.
Merchandise Mover: Retrieve items from Auction warehouse and deliver to display design team. Move finished carts to on-camera location, set up item boards, tear down carts, and carefully return items to the warehouse.
Phone Bank Captain: Work with volunteers to make sure bids are recorded quickly, accurately and legibly. Relay high bids to the boards and turn completed slips over to the bid runners.
Pick-Up and Pay Runner: Retrieve Auction items from warehouse, confirm purchases with customer, hand to winning bidder and thank them for their support.
When and where is Auction held?
Auction takes place May 28 -June 1, 2014 at the WPT Studios in Vilas Hall, 821 University Avenue on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

9:00 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
9:15 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

Shifts are approximately three to five hours, and include training and refreshments.
Auction is a fun and exciting volunteer experience for the whole family. We have positions available for kids as young as 10.
*The minimum age to volunteer at the phone bank is 16.
