Freedom's Irony: Trails of Tears & Manifest Destiny

Tracing the events of the 1830`s, this program shows how slavery was revived by the growth of the cotton industry. At the same time, European Americans increased their Westward Movement, expanding their own freedoms, often at the expense of those of Native Americans. Many white Americans ignore these contradictions, believing they are divinely destined to dominate.
