Cultural Horizons of Wisconsin[series info]
Many Voices
Students in the Exploratorium begin thinking about the importance of language and see an extended Oneida family engaged in a language class. They explore the relationship between language and culture by finding a number of examples of nonverbal communication, including traditional folk music and dance with the Sumadija Serbian Folk Dance Ensemble in Milwaukee. Several student composers then demonstrate how they express aspects of their own cultural identity through music.
