Tonight on “Here & Now,” we talk mining and maps. Republican Senator Dale Schultz and Democratic Senator Bob Jauch have hatched a compromise, alternative version of an iron-ore mining bill. It is in discussion now at the Capitol. Proponents of the mine proposed for northern Wisconsin hope to be able to pass legislation that would make the operation a reality because of the promised jobs it would bring to the state.
We hear from Senators Schultz and Jauch on their plan.
We’ll also hear from the Co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee, Republican Robin Vos, on the issue. Rep. Vos has been critical of the alternative plan, saying “…it ensures that no company will ever do business here.”
Also, we hear from the Chairman of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Mike Wiggins, who continues to oppose the mine.
Finally tonight, a report from Milwaukee Federal Court, where WPR Reporter, Shawn Johnson, will detail the trial over Wisconsin’s new legislative boundaries.
Plus — here’s a report I produced responding to recent viewer questions on our program.
‘Keep ‘em coming!
