I’m set to hit the road this morning for the launching of a new Wisconsin Vote project leading up to the 2012 elections.
It involves visiting cities around the state and literally asking the most basic of questions, “What’s on Your Mind?” The goal is to hear from Wisconsinites about their thoughts, their concerns and their hopes this election season. Too often, the collective media closes off avenues in its questioning by prejudging situations. We want to be as open-ended as possible.
We’ll be stopping on street corners, in parks, and in neighborhoods, anywhere we can find people willing to participate in their democracy. Tomorrow, our journey starts in Appleton and we hope to visit De Pere and Green Bay before heading back to Madison Friday night.
In addition to finding out what’s on your mind, we’ll also be seeing if there are any questions you’d like to ask the candidates for governor in the upcoming recall election. We hope to use a number of those questions in the upcoming debates we’re producing with the candidates. Wisconsin 2012 Debate: The Democratic Gubernatorial Recall Primary airs 7:00-8:00 p.m., May 4, here on Wisconsin Public Television. Our General Election debate for the gubernatorial race will air Thursday night, May 31 from 7:00-8:00.
If we don’t bump into you on the street, but you still want to participate, that’d be great. You can call us at 1-800-253-1158 or send us an e-mail or videotaped question to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for your help.
