Tonight on “Here and Now,” we go over the budget plan forwarded by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Janesville). His “Path to Prosperity,” is similar to the budget blueprint he authored last year under the same name, with a few exceptions. As Chair of the House Budget Committee, Rep. Ryan continues to call for the repeal of the federal healthcare law and changes to Medicare.
We hear from Ryan as he introduced the plan in Washington this week. We also hear from U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (D-Madison). Rep. Pocan is also on the House Budget Committee and voted against the GOP plan. He explains why.
Tonight we begin our “Budget Watch” series with a report from Zac Schultz on changes Governor Scott Walker wants to make to Medicaid in Wisconsin . The report follows a family currently on BadgerCare, but which under the state budget proposals, would have to move the parents off the plan.
And tonight, we look at the high cost of heavy drinking in Wisconsin. A new report puts excessive alcohol consumption into dollars and cents.
Tonight at 7:30 p.m. statewide on Wisconsin Public Television.
