Your BBC Booster

WPT is about to get a booster shot loaded with new British comedy and drama shows. That means that over the next few days you’ll get a chance to see several series premieres, including the following:

Father Brown

Father Brown
7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5
Follows the adventures of a Roman Catholic priest who has a knack for solving crimes in his community. No kidding. Based on the short stories by GK Chesterton.

Dalziel & Pascoe
8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3
Set in a fictional Yorkshire town, this duo is always on hand to solve the classic murder mystery, while maintaining a down to earth wit and humor. (New to us, this series premiered in 1996).

Me & Mrs. Jones

The Cafe
8:45 Saturday, Oct. 5
Three generations of a family play host to customers at a seafront cafe in this warm comedy series.

Me & Mrs. Jones
9:35 Thursday, Oct. 3
This laugh-out-loud look at modern day family life follows the increasingly complex life of a single mother, Mrs. Jones, as she balances love, affection and motherhood.

And, the aforementioned medical jargon — not just a cheesy way to get your attention — was a slight reference that new Doc Martin is coming sometime in 2014. (Note: Doc Martin is produced by ITV, not BBC. But hey… they’re both British). Enjoy this first look at Season 6, courtesy of PBS member station WETA’s Telly Visions blog.
