For all of Downton Abbey’s fictional drama, there’s plenty of actual history baked into the series. As star Joanne Froggatt states, ”It was a very specific decision to set [Downton Abbey] at the time they did, just before the first World War, just as the Titanic sank because of the kind of change that comes over the next 20 years.”
