Gary Carr as Jack Ross
We all had the chance to ask that and other questions during Monday’s live chat with Jack Ross actor Gary Carr. During the conversation, one of the first things asked was who the character is based on.
Several sources say Jack Ross is based on 1920s singer Leslie “Hutch” Hutchinson, and The Telegraph notes several similarities between the two. In Monday’s chat, the actor said he’s a mix of several musicians rolled into one. So, sort of like Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow — a mix of several classic pirate characters, with a heavy dose of Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones — Jack Ross is based on jazz singers of the era, with notable similarities to some real life legends.
Who’s to say for sure. All we know is the last episode left a lot of questions as to who Jack Ross is going to become in the remaining episodes.
