The Wall Street Journal has an interesting breakdown of Super Bowl Sunday TV viewing trends. Well, at least we think it’s interesting because, over the last 10 years, Downton Abbey was the most watched show on any Super Bowl Sunday, not counting the Super Bowl itself.
Last year, Season 3, Episode 5 attracted 8.8 million viewers in the U.S. If you recall, a well-timed blackout at the at the New Orleans Superdome delayed the game and may have helped nudge viewers from CBS to PBS. In fact, PBS was noted as one of the “brands that brought it during the Super Bowl blackout.”
So what will you watch Sunday, Feb. 2 — a new Downton Abbey or the Super Bowl? Who says you have to choose? Watch one and record the other.
