Once again, Downton Abbey was the second-most watched TV show on Super Bowl Sunday. And unlike the Denver Broncos, we’re happy to finish in second place.
The Super Bowl keeps playing to Downton Abbey fans’ advantage. Even if you eagerly anticipated the Super Bowl the last two years, chances are good you changed the channel to WPT at some point. Last year’s blackout and this year’s blowout certainly allowed some of you to switch from the big game to Downton Abbey on WPT.
We’re also happy to see that many of you decided well in advance that Downton Abbey was to be your Sunday night entertainment. You made that loud and clear on our Facebook feed.
The official numbers show Sunday night’s episode averaged 6.8 million viewers, up 3% from an average of 6.6 million viewers against the Super Bowl in 2013. That trend has us already looking forward to Super Bowl, we mean #DramaBowlPBS in 2015.
