Sybil Returns to TV (Sort Of)

Jessica Brown Findlay as Lady Sybil

Jessica Brown Findlay as Lady Sybil

Remember Lady Sybil?

Of course you do. After all, it was only last season that we lost her. The actress who played Sybil, Jessica Brown Findlay, has found life after Downton. She’s set to return to television next month in the CW movie Winter’s Tale, which also stars Colin Farrell.

(For what it’s worth…CW is calling the movie Winter’s Tale, while media refer to it as Labyrinth — the name of the novel the movie is based on. We’re sure PR will sort it all out eventually.)

We caught the extended trailer a few nights ago while flipping through the channels. The trailer is a sprawling 2 1/2 mintues long — a near eternity in a world of 15 and 30 second commercials. If you’ve been missing Sybil, this is the next best thing we can offer.

Sherlock-Season-3

Sherlock premiers Sunday following Downton.

Actors move on.

While we certainly hope all the best for Jessica Brown Findlay, and Dan Stevens for that matter, we only wish they could have pursued their Hollywood careers while continuing their roles on Downton. You know, sort of like our other favorites Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit Trilogy) who return for a third season of Sherlock on Sunday, immediately following this week’s new episode of Downton Abbey. Catch both series Sunday night at 8.
