If you happen to be in New York this week, you’ll want to keep an eye out for this.

The Downton Abbey #TeaTruck
For all the buzz about the #TeaTruck, we’re more interested in what’s being served with the tea. New York Public Media says biscuits will be served. In the U.S. those biscuits could be crusty, dry and savory, or surprisingly sweet and tasty. Not one to take chances, we made our own accompaniment to tea.
While searching the web we came across this Downton Abbey-inspired Pear Upside-Down Cake. In the world of cake baking, nothing is easier to make than an upside-down cake. However, you will want to poach your own pears, which seems daunting at first, but is super easy. Just follow David Lebovitz’s pear poaching tips.
As you build your cake, don’t worry that the batter tastes chalky. The brown sugar, butter and pear topping adds an ideal sweetness. In the end, you’ll have a rich and eggy cake that won’t leave you feeling like you overindulged. We recommend you make one for yourself and enjoy with your Downton Abbey and tea – whether or not the tea comes from a truck.
