Ok, we know this is the Downton Dispatch blog, but another Masterpiece drama is about to make a big splash in the U.S. and deserves a little attention.
By all indications, Grantchester is going to be a hit. It’s already been renewed for a second season after an impressive debut in the UK last fall. The Los Angeles Times tweeted this week, “Like a great sermon, the deceptive depth of PBS’ British mystery-drama ‘Grantchester’ catches you unawares.”
The six-episode season follows a young and charismatic vicar named Sidney Chambers who turns to down-to-earth police inspector Geordie Keating for help when one of his parishioners dies under suspicious circumstances. By the looks of this trailer, Grantchester should entertain whether you’re a fan of good old-fashioned murder mysteries or not. Learn more about Masterpiece “Grantchester.”
Sunday night’s Downton Abbey also promises to be dramatic. Mary and Lord Gillingham are about to steam things up, Mr. Bricker has his eye on Cora and even Violet is reunited with an old flame. If Sunday’s Downton (and the Packers’ game, for some of you) is enough drama for one day, you can always save Grantchester for Monday night and watch on-demand.
Cora makes a new friend this Sunday night.
