In the Season 4 premiere, Daisy and the rest of the kitchen crew receive an electric mixer, a modern marvel in the 1920s kitchen. And yes, it causes quite a stir.
Downton Abbey strives to portray history accurately. The show even has it’s own “historical oracle” in Alastair Bruce.
So, was it the right time to introduce an electric mixer? Yes, according to Huffington Post author EllynAnne Geisel, who found an ad for the mixer used by Daisy. Geisel also found that ads for drip coffee makers were popular in early 1920s magazines, though we’re sure tea will reign supreme at Downton.
