The Midwest Region
Studies the historical figures, commerce, capital cities and points of interest in the Midwest Region. The first European settlers came from France and Spain to explore this region in the mid 1500s. As part of the Louisiana Purchase, this region proved to be a valuable asset to the U.S. economy and trade. The Midwest Region eventually became the center for railroad transportation and other developments such as agriculture, manufacturing and mining. States covered in the program: Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
