Egypt: Mohammed and His Dof
Eleven-year-old Mohammed lives in Aswan, in southern Egypt. Sitting in his cockleshell, he earns his pocket money by playing and singing to tourists as they pass by in feluccas. His instrument is a Dof, a kind of traditional tambourine.
