Making Connections

First grade students make text to text, text to self and text to world connections to help them understand a picture book during read-aloud. The Teachers area of the Into the Book website provides additional information about the classrooms featured in each episode of Behind the Lesson. Click on Teacher Video to find information and extra video clips from Dr. Mike Ford`s interviews of each teacher. The site also features a discussion area, and a Teacher Notebook for your personal professional development reflections, as well as lots of downloads including music and video clips, classroom design ideas, posters, and lesson plans.
