Shakespeare's Globe[series info]
Actors
The program explains the various challenges actors faced in Shakespeare`s day and the relationship actors had with the audience. Modern actors discuss the impacts of playing without scenery; the fact that there was no lighting, the effect of being so close to the audience, and learning only one`s part as an informal "copyright" protection. The program includes a rehearsal of "Julius Caesar" and scenes from BBC Television productions of "Macbeth", "A Midsummer Night`s Dream" and a performance of "A Winter`s Tale."
