America's Quest for Freedom[series info]

Freedom Marches into the 20th Century

Teddy Roosevelt`s patrician reforms, Henry Ford`s well-paid automobile assembly workers, and pacifist Wilson`s intervention in World War I are a few examples of the contradictory signs of a country moving toward uncertain new freedoms. Women marched until they got the vote. New civil liberties emerged while others were suppressed. Booming economic prosperity lasted until 1932, when the crash threatened everyone`s freedom.
