GOP race for US Senate intensifies

There was a debate today in Green Bay sponsored by and broadcast on WTAQ among Republican Senate hopefuls, businessman Eric Hovde, former US Rep. Mark Neumann, Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and former Governor Tommy Thompson-one of few opportunities to hear from all the candidates together before the August 10th debate broadcast on Wisconsin Public Radio and Television in association with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

That debate will take place just days before the August 14th primary to determine which Republican will carry the banner against Democrat Tammy Baldwin (and Libertarian Joseph Kexel and independent Nimrod Allen).

Choosing whom to vote for is usually more difficult in a primary election where the differences in candidate positions are much smaller. On WisconsinVote.org, we’ll have a number of resources to help voters make up their mind. Already, interviews with each of the candidates are posted and we’ll have profiles and the candidates making their own direct appeals for votes through “candidate statements” available soon.

Of course, Wisconsin Vote will be a great place to follow the returns on primary election night, as well.
