Mitt Romney’s moment

The GOP convention wrapped up this evening, with Mitt Romney making his keynote address. It went off mostly without a hitch. There were two protesters inside the forum that began shouting during the speech. Each time the crowd would start up the “USA! USA!” chant to cover it up.

There are an estimated 15,000 members of the media in Tampa, but the vast majority are not setting up in front of the camera or looking for that amazing photo from the convention floor. Most are part of the technical support staff, making sure the reporters can do their jobs and look good doing it. I’m no different. We’re only a two-person crew in Tampa, but we have a number of people back in Madison preparing for Here and Now Friday night and making sure all my photos and blogs get posted here to WisconsinVote.org.

While Romney’s speech was the key moment of the week, the predominant sound today at the Tampa Convention Center was that of packing tape and rolling crates. The show is moving on to Charlotte starting Friday for the DNC Convention. I won’t be there. My colleague Frederica Freyburg will be handling that event while I try to catch up on sleep.
