This afternoon, the Senate Transportation and Elections Committee weighs in on who will vote in possible recall elections next year.
The Governmental Accountability Board had ruled that any recall effort which began before next May would be held under the old legislative districts (i.e. the ones which originally elected legislators in question). The Legislature redrew the legislative districts earlier this year as it does every decade following the U.S. Census.
Well, Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) has legislation to have the new district boundaries cover any recall elections period. LRB-3356 will be debated by the committee.
Democrats are opposed.
We’ll see what happens.
