Back in November, I attended a special 2012 Wisconsin election conference put on by the Society of Professional Journalists that included a presentation from the Government Accountability Board. The GAB’s Reid Magney spoke about the challenges of implementing the new voter identification requirements recently put into effect in Wisconsin.
It was clear there would be challenges when Magney circulated copies of the Board’s 57 page Resource Guide. It covers all manner of contingency including how to handle the ID’s of people who won’t be photographed for religious reasons to voting by the homeless.
So when Magney gave some hints about an exciting public awareness campaign in the works by the board and an ad agency, it was hard to imagine how that would work out.
The campaign is underway now, and it’s surprisingly upbeat and peppy for what could be a pretty dry topic. See for yourself at bringit.wisconsin.gov.
