The Biology of...

The Biology of...

This series examines the biology of single-celled organisms, simple organisms and plants. Programs look at common ciliates such as the paramecium, other one-celled organisms such as the amoeba and rotifer, and some multi-celled organisms such as hydras, jellyfish, simple worms, bryozoans and plants. Using outstanding footage of these creatures under the microscope, The "Biology of..." teaches students about the variety of life as well as the behavior and interactions of organisms in the microscopic world. Programs stress the important role that these lower life forms play in the maintenance of ecosystems, their role in the food chain, and how they relate to human life.
